PitKrew’s “IceMan,” our pride and joy, took vast strides to becoming our third produced champion on our yard and is only 20 points away from achieving that goal. He, along with the help of our beautiful female, Blue Fire’s “Hot Stuff” of PitKrew, was also able to add to his repertoire by producing possibly the best litter we have had to date. We are extremely excited for the future of these puppies and hopeful that they can add to the already growing list of champion certified PitKrew American Bullies!

PitKrew Kennels was also selected to be a member of the Elite Edge and also featured in the “Breeders Block” section of Issue 22 of the Atomic Dogg Magazine, a great honor within the American Bully community. Our dedication to the breed, ability to produce exceptional American Bully Pitbulls and hard work in and out of the show ring and bully community have earned us the privilege of being hand picked to join such an elite group of breeders. What is the Elite Edge? It is a group of American Bully breeders, hand-picked by Dave Wilson (founder of the ABKC – American Bully Kennel Club, Razors Edge bloodline, Atomic Dogg Magazine, Elite Edge) and chosen on our abilities to not only produce the highest quality dogs but also act as the guardians of the American Bully community. Our main goal is to help promote a positive image for the bully breed and this is done first and foremost through example. All members maintain only the highest level of professionalism and strive towards being the best examples possible for the breed. We have some BIG great plans for 2013 and are extremely excited to share them with the rest of the bully community. Together, we can accomplish anything! The Elite Edge is here to stay!

Finally, PitKrew Kennels made yet another excellent addition to our camp and we have gone FRENCH! That’s right…we have decided to add another beautiful bully breed to our camp, the French Bulldog. I cannot say how happy I am to have bought our beautiful new puppy, Blueline’s “Ice Cube” of PitKrew. He is one of the most beautiful blue French Bulldog puppies in the country today and has already inspired hundreds of people to fall in love with the breed. He was an absolute hit sensation at the ABKC Nationals in Dallas, Texas this past November and has a very, very bright future in front of him. His extraordinary great looks and structure, sweet-natured and fun-loving temperament and excellent blue gene carrying pedigree make him one of the top up-and-coming French Bulldog studs in the world. He has one of the most unique looks and maintains the high standards we have for the dogs in our kennel. Ice Cube also battled his way past the dreaded puppy killing disease known as the Parvovirus and kicked Parvo’s butt! He is such a strong boy and has only YOU to thank for all of the loving prayers! What is the bully community? By definition, a community is “a body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered through a larger society.” If you were at the 2012 American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC) Nationals, you were an integral part of the bully community. At our most important show of the year, all those who attended witnessed something bigger than ourselves, bigger than the politics and bigger than any crew or clique that was in attendance…

We were all witness to a movement and that is evolution of the AMERICAN BULLY breed. I saw generations of people and dogs from all over the world gathered in one place and living in harmony. We travelled hundreds and thousands of miles to do one thing, enjoy our dogs with other people who also enjoy our dogs.

The American Bully breed is an amazing thing. It truly is. I wonder how many of us actually realize the similarities between ourselves and the breed we love so much. Just look at it…we all have different personalities and were raised around different “packs” our whole lives but, for the most part, we all get along when we are at a show. We all come in different shapes and sizes, just like our dogs (standard, pocket, XL, extreme and classic). Some of us are big, some small; some short, some tall. In essence, shows bring us together as a family. We are a family with many, many differences, brought together by one common thing…the AMERICAN BULLY.

What happens before and after a show, however, is something totally different. It seems as if we are all at war with each other. No dog is good enough in our eyes. No one person is good enough in our eyes. No group is good enough in our eyes. No registry is good enough in our eyes. No standard is good enough in our eyes. We are in a true state of disarray…

BUT THERE IS HOPE!

I have seen the things we are capable of when we act together as a community and they are BEAUTIFUL. The 2012 ABKC NATIONALS WAS BEAUTIFUL. We saw future and past generations of dogmen all in one building. We were witness to the future of the breed, GRCH and CH alike, competing against “throwbacks” like ABKC GRCH “Thug” and it was an amazing sight to see! So what is keeping us back??? Nationals, in essence, ends the 2012 show year and leads us into 2013 with a clean slate ahead of us, a perfect chance to start anew. With that being said…

I CHALLENGE ALL BREEDERS TO REALLY LOOK AT THINGS AND ASK THEMSELVES…”Why did I originally get involved with this breed and what can I do to make myself AND my dogs better?” If you find it bothering to ask yourself this question or you can’t think of an answer that doesn’t involve this >>>$<<<, then you should not be handling lives in your hands. You should not be a breeder. However, if you find yourself to be a person who constantly asks this question, a person who strives to find the answer, then you are an AMERICAN BULLY GUARDIAN. We need to protect this breed. One guardian cannot do it alone, however, thousands of guardians makes an army. If we were united, we would be UNSTOPPABLE as a breed. As it is, there is NO breed like the American Bully breed. Just think about that...

P.S., we have a lot of new material on the website, including new breedings posted on the “BREEDINGS” paHAS ANYONE EVER STRUGGLED COMING UP WITH AN ANSWER WHEN SOMEONE ASKS “WHAT KIND OF DOG IS THAT???” I know it happens to me, so it must happen to others as well. Our dogs are by definition “pitbulls,” especially being that there are many, varying definitions for what exactly a pitbull is. Here’s one definition: “The term Pit Bull is used in reference to multiple breeds of dogs. Namely, the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, as well as any crosses between the three. However, in a few parts of the world the American Bulldog is also classified as ‘Pit Bull’ type dog, despite the fact that they have major genetic differences. In the 90′s, the American Bully was created from the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier.” I, just like some people, sometimes find myself struggling with a definite answer to tell people. Normally, I’ll call them American Bullies, but being as I am a person who has a program based upon dogs that have the bully appearance along with pitbull structure/drive, it becomes a little more difficult to try and explain to a newbie how my dogs are related to some of the abominations that people are calling bullies nowadays. I grew up with the original APBT…pure Jeep, Heinzel, Pat Patrick dogs and when this bully movement started and I looked at my dogs, I could tell the difference right away even if they had some* similarities. But now, like I said, it seems as if there is even a stigma against calling a dog a “BULLY.” Some, not all, of the “new generation” of bullies will make any true pitbull lover cringe and for a good reason. If you like bulldogs and you want your “bully” to look like a bulldog, then go and breed bulldogs…it’s that simple! Don’t come and try to ruin a breed that was based on the pitbull. Idk how some of these people even have the gull to add the word BULL to anything they have. Pig is what they should be called. So, with that being sad…I can’t wait until nature takes its course and these exotic dogs remove themselves from the equation. That way, REAL BULLY BREEDERS can get back to breeding dogs that are not only similar in appearance to each other, but also similar to the founding dogs who started all of this 10-20 years ago. THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL THE TERM “AMERICAN BULLY” BE RESTORED TO THE GLORY IT ONCE HAD AND THE BULLY STIGMA WILL GO AWAY.

HERE’S A LITTLE SNEAK PEAK AT THE FUTURE OF PITKREW KENNELS! Those that know me know that I like to keep our pups a secret, but I just couldn’t wait any longer. The future looks very, very bright dontcha think?! From left to right…Xtreme Bully PitBulls KATO of PitKrew (8 months), Xtreme Bully Pitbulls BLUE MOON of PitKrew (4 months) and PitKrew’s ABSOLUT (11 months). XBP AND PITKREW AT ITS FINEST! Kato is off of Xtreme Bully Pitbulls Shamrock and Low Low. Just wait until this boy fully matures! He will be a HEAVY influence on our future XL American Bully breeding program. Blue Moon is off of Xtreme Bully Pitbulls legendary XXL stud, Icon, and Vida. She has an extremely bright future and will grow to be one of the most beautiful XL females in the country. Absolut or Abby as we like to call her is off of our legendary Mugleston breeding between Havoc and Mia. With her beautiful looks, wide chest, extreme shoulder definition and chiseled head shape, she has a bright future and will eventually take over for her momma, Mia, when we retire her. None of these dogs are even 1 year old yet, and they are already looking better than the competition.

Oh and Kato is 100+ pounds…just use that as a little size comparison.

This year, we will also be more dedicated to providing a range of up-to-date topics concerning our beautiful breed, the American Bully. Our main focus will be the health of our breed, as we see the necessity to start voicing an opinion due to the recent popularity of exaggerated or “freak” bullies. We have always been dedicated to producing structurally sound, healthy dogs but some breeders as of late have been ignoring health when breeding and have been mixing breeds in order to create a “bullier” dog. Years of hard work and dedication to producing great dogs through careful selection are being erased and the integrity of our breed is being tarnished right in front of our eyes. To better show that this epidemic is becoming widespread, here is a post that the founder of the American Bully and the Razors Edge bloodline, Dave Wilson, left on his personal Facebook account recently:

“I’ve had enough seeing people trying to pass these mix breed dogs off as Bullies. We didn’t spend all these years creating and promoting a breed so people could ruin it in one generation creating a mutt. When you cross another breed it doesn’t make you a breeder, your a cheater! The blood was already made to give enough variety to make almost any look, if you can’t work with it and have to cheat, then your not a breeder at all. We will start calling you out one by one and expose you for ruining our breed! Let Frenchies, English Bulldogs, American Bulldogs, and other breeds be what they are. Leave Bullies pure like they were meant to be!”
